I Wanted

A fiercely independent young singer (Kimberly Whalen), a musical idol about to give a farewell performance (Theresa Russell) and a devoted husband facing a devastating loss (Paul Sorvino) unexpectedly change each other’s lives in this moving, song-filled indie drama about fate, commitment and the potent connections that come alive through music.

Winter Rose is a would-be singer-songwriter living on the edge.  Having grown up as an orphan she trusts in nothing and no one, not even in her own power as an artist.  But when she learns that her long-time inspiration, iconic songstress Rachal Love, is holding a contest to find the one singer who can rightfully take her place in the largest televised concert in history, Winter takes one last shot.  Nothing can prepare Winter for the roller-coaster journey her life is about to take as she’s swept up in what seems like a dream – yet is also brought face-to-face with her deep distrust of fame, her haunted past and the urge to numb her dangerously open heart with whiskey.

Yet even as Winter starts to self-destruct, she forms a bond with Rachal – a woman who is in many ways her emotional double – and the husband who gave Rachal a chance when she most needed it.   When Winter finally commits to give her all on the stage it’s no longer about singing her own tune, but honoring the musical legacy of a true friend and the spirit of transcendence.

A WINTER ROSE marks the feature film writing and directing debut of long-time record industry veteran Riz Story, who has assembled an accomplished cast headed by veteran stars Russell and Sorvino along with rising newcomer Whalen and a supporting cast that includes Robert Miano, J.D Parsons, Taryn Manning, Billy Zane, Eddie Furlong, George Lazenby and Silvia Spross.
